Meet
Dr. La Vera C. Brown is an associate professor, career development strategist, certified trauma specialist, licensed mental health therapist, and distinguished counseling professional with more than 30 years of experience in higher education, clinical practice, leadership, and community engagement. She has built a respected career as a counselor, educator, clinician, speaker, and transformational thought leader, helping individuals navigate complex transitions with insight, resilience, and strategic direction.
Her work now centers on helping women in midlife and beyond navigate career and life transitions with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose. Grounded in expertise in mental health, adult development, trauma-informed care, and career theory, Dr. Brown empowers women to move beyond limitations, strengthen their sense of identity, and step into a more intentional and significant next chapter.
Dr. Brown has served in leadership on several professional boards, including NBCC-MFP, NCACES, and NCAMCD. She is also the author of a new book, Beyond the First Act: Reclaiming Purpose and Direction in Midlife, which examines identity, emotional well-being, and career reinvention for women across adulthood.
